NVQ Level 2 Road Passenger Vehicle Driving

Our NVQ programme is in huge demand within the industry and is fully supported by Local Authorities, Taxi Associations, Go Skills (Sector Skills Council for Passenger Transport) and the Learning and Skills Council.

What is an NVQ?

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work-related, competence based qualifications which reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do your job. They are based on national occupational standards that cover all the main aspects of your job and are broken down into units which are achieved through assessment and training. Assessment is normally through on-the-job observation and questioning. You will also have to collect evidence to prove you have the skills and knowledge to achieve each unit.

What are the benefits of NVQs?

  • Increased productivity
  • Helps access contracts and provides a better sales case
  • Reduces accidents – our NVQ covers Health & Safety
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality
  • Develops a multi-skilled, efficient and effective pool of drivers
  • Shows customers that the workforce is competent
  • Increases levels of staff motivation and retention
  • Ensures that drivers have the skills to deal with new technologies and working practices
  • Better run fleet

The Award

Your NVQ includes seven mandatory units. Drivers are required to select a further 2 units from a list of optional units.  Currently, local companies are selecting units 16 and 17 from this optional list, as being the ones most suited to their needs. Your Assessor will provide information, advice and guidance to help you choose the units that are the right solution for you.
